Time to Visit Main Street Again

Many great things are happening in Historic Downtown Bethlehem. One of the most important is that by late fall, all of the long term vacant storefronts will be filled. This boom started with Cluster’s Handcrafted Popcorn occupying 530 Main Street and opened in late April. This niche business has been a popular edition to Main St. Owner, Jules Sghiatti, brings the brand from his family’s original location in New Hope, PA. Cluster’s Handcrafted Popcorn took over a vacant space, last filled by popular women’s boutique, Shuze, which closed in October of 2013.

Tapas on Main owner, Juan Carlos Paredes, is adding The Flying Egg at 451 Main Street. This will be a funky, upscale “boutique diner” which will serve breakfast and lunch and was the dream of Paredes’ wife, Cara. The Flying Egg replaces the retail store, Artfully Elegant which closed in late 2016.

Later this fall, Juan Carlos will reopen the space formerly occupied by Little Italy on Main at 526 Main St. which closed after a fire three years ago. Paredes is opening a Mexican restaurant which will be named Urbano. The menu will be similar to Paredes’ offerings at Mesa in Easton but with several twists. This delicious addition to Main Street will also have a retail clothing component inside.

Lastly, the corner space formerly held by high-end clothier, SophistiKate at Main and Broad Sts. will reopen as a Univest Bank branch. SophistiKate closed in January 2016.
